Pregnancy massage is great for preventing or treating those aches and pains that can occur as the baby grows, along with the inevitable postural changes that an expectant mother experiences throughout her pregnancy.

Prenatal massage is a safe, drug-free way of providing relief. It can be beneficial in helping to relieve some of the discomforts and aches and pains experienced during pregnancy, such as backache, joint pain, leg cramp, swollen ankles and sciatic nerve pains through muscle relaxation which in turn, can also help improve sleep. Pregnancy Massage can reduce swelling by improving blood and lymph circulation and the massaging of the face, neck and shoulders can also help alleviate sinus pressure headaches caused by tension.

Massage can provide a wonderful opportunity to rest, relax and feel rejuvenated and bring about a wonderful sense of well-being and composure during the lead up to the birth.

How does it differ from a "regular" massage?

As the recipient is pregnant, the massage therapist requires greater knowledge of pregnancy and anatomy of a pregnant woman. This means that positioning during a massage is critical to the safety and well-being of both the mother and the baby she is carrying. There are also parts of the body that should not be massaged.

Pregnancy Massage can only be performed once you have reached the 12 week stage in your pregnancy, but can be administered right up until your due date.

Our massage therapists have received specialised training and are certified in prenatal massage. They know how to position and support a woman's body during the massage, modify techniques, and avoid certain areas during pregnancy.

They use a specially designed maternity pillow that allows you to rest comfortably and safely during the massage. You can even lie on your front!
